23 Aquadarts raced to a team 8th place finish at this past week’s Far Western Long Course Championships in Moraga. One of the biggest meets in the western USA, there were 1432 swimmers and 143 teams in attendance, with teams from the western USA, Canada and Mexico competing.
11 Darts qualified for finals by placing in the top eight in trials. Leading the way was Isaac Carsel, who placed in 6/7 finals and was 3rd in the high point standings for 10-U boys. He won the 50 and 100 breast in 37.34 and 1:21.82, both of which were new team records, and the 50 breast also tied the Far Western record. Applejean Gwinn, 11-12 G, who placed in 5/7 finals, was second in the 200 back and also earned three bronze medals. She was 3rd in the 100 fly in 1:05.01; just 1/10 of a second behind teammate Ava Bautista, who was second in 1:05.00. Bautista also placed in three other finals. Tyler Vong and Yurika Sakai were multi-finalists for the 11-12 boy and girls, placing in three finals each. Double finalists were Dylan Bonilla, Gracie Mering, and Audrey Portello, while Sarah Bennetts, Justice Baoerjin, and Adelia Biello each placed in one final.
Other Darts competing at the meet were Ella Ackerman, Abby Cenizal, Lily Coehlo, Sara Kos, Maddie MacMahon, Kayla Passantino, Amy Schroeder, Harvey Uyeyama, Val Vong, Avery Wolk, Kevin Wong and Tati Zagata. Competing on relays were Taylor Adams, Noah Baoerjin, and Forte Dimidik.
